Stay With Me by J. Lynn

Jennifer L. Armentrout writing as J. Lynn. This is third book in the Wait For You series. Wait for you is a romantic thriller and Jennifer does not disappoint.

Calla Fitz is a 21 year old college student with her goals set in mind with the 3 F's : Finish College, Find a career in the nursing field, and Finally Reap the benefits of following through on something. Well Calla's plans come to halt when she realizes her mom cleaned out her college fund and racked up credit card debt in her name. Calla is forced to return home for summer break and attempt to recover some of the money her mother stole from her. This results in Calla facing a past that she never planed on returning to. Calla walks  into Mona's bar and instead of finding her mother she meets the hot bartender Jackson "Jax" James. Holy Smokes Jax is the epitome of hotness and is based on Theo James!!! Calla soon discovers her mother messed with the wrong people. Calla has the unfortunate faith of being dragged into her mother's mess. The only option is to find her mother as soon as possible. With the help of Jax, they work together to find her mother. It's obvious Jax has more interest in just helping Calla find her mother. Calla does not have the time to get involved with Jax. She just wants to focus on finding her mother and get back to her life and her three F's.

I think Stay With Me is the best in the series thus far, and Jax just maybe my favorite character Jennifer L Armentout has written. It's most likely due to the fact hes based on Theo James.Oh and he reads.
"Oh my God, guys that read were like unicorns. They only existed in fairy tales."

I recommend everyone read this, but you should read Wait for You (Cam and Avery's story) and Be With Me (Teresa and Jase).

I'll leave you with an excerpt from Stay With Me

EXCERPT:

As I lay there, trying to swallow a loud, obnoxious yawn, I remembered something he’d said when we first met, about life being too short. I imagined he had firsthand experience with shortened lives while he was serving. That mentality came from experience. I got that now. Could even understand it, but there was something I didn’t understand.
“Why?” I asked.
There was a beat. “Why what?”
Jax sounded tired, and I should shut up or point out that I was now tired and could sleep, so he could leave. But I didn’t. “Why are you here? You don’t know me and . . .” I trailed off, because there really wasn’t anything left to say.
A minute went by, and he hadn’t answered my question, and then I think another minute ticked on, and I was okay with him not answering because maybe he didn’t even know. Or maybe he was just bored and that was why he was here.
But then he moved.
Jax pressed against my back, and the next breath I took got stuck in my throat. My eyes shot open. The sheet and blanket were between us, but they felt like nothing.
“What are you doing?” I asked.
“Getting comfortable.” He dropped an arm over my waist, and my entire body jerked against his. “It’s time to sleep I think.”
“But—”
“You can’t sleep when you talk,” he remarked.
“You don’t need to be all up on me,” I pointed out.
His answering chuckle stirred the hair along the back of my neck. “Honey, I’m not all up on you.”
I freaking begged to differ on that point. I started to wiggle away, but the arm around my waist tightened, holding me in place.
“You’re not going anywhere,” he announced casually, as if he wasn’t holding me prisoner in the bed.
Okay. The whole prisoner thing might be melodramatic, but he wasn’t letting me up. Not when he was getting all kinds of comfy behind me.
Oh my God, this was spooning. Total spooning. I was spooning with an honorary member of the Hot Guy Brigade. Did I wake up in a parallel universe?
“Sleep,” he demanded, as if the one word carried that much power. “Go to sleep, Calla.” This time his voice was softer, quieter.
“Yeah, it doesn’t work that way, Jax. You have a nice voice, but it doesn’t hold the power to make me sleep on your command.”
He chuckled.
I rolled my eyes, but the most ridiculous thing ever was the fact that after a couple of minutes, my eyes stayed shut. I . . . I actually settled in against him. With his front pressed to my back, his long legs cradling mine, and his arm snug around my waist, I actually did feel safe. More than that, I felt something else—something I hadn’t felt in years.
I felt cared for . . . cherished.
Which was the epitome of dumb, because I barely knew him, but feeling that, recognizing what the warm, buzzing feeling was, I fell right asleep.

Wicked by Jennifer L. Armentrout

In honor of Jennifer L Armentrout and our love for supernatural I had to  put a few supernatural gifs in this post.

So Jennifer L Armentrout aka J. Lynn has a new book coming out and its New Adult Paranormal!
Wicked  is about fae and is  going to be released December 8, 2014!

 This is the book synopsis:
Things are about to get Wicked in New Orleans.

Twenty-two year old Ivy Morgan isn’t your average college student. She, and others like her, know humans aren’t the only thing trolling the French Quarter for fun… and for food. Her duty to the Order is her life. After all, four years ago, she lost everything at the hands of the creatures she’d sworn to hunt, tearing her world and her heart apart.

Ren Owens is the last person Ivy expected to enter her rigidly controlled life. He’s six feet and three inches of temptation and swoon-inducing charm. With forest-green eyes and a smile that’s surely left a stream of broken hearts in its wake, he has an uncanny, almost unnatural ability to make her yearn for everything he has to offer. But letting him in is as dangerous as hunting the cold-blooded killers stalking the streets. Losing the boy she loved once before had nearly destroyed her, but the sparking tension that grows between them becomes impossible for Ivy to deny. Deep down, she wants… she needs more than what her duty demands of her, what her past has shaped for her.

But as Ivy grows closer to Ren, she realizes she’s not the only one carrying secrets that could shatter the frail bond between them. There’s something he’s not telling her, and one thing is for certain. She’s no longer sure what is more dangerous to her—the ancient beings threatening to take over the town or the man demanding to lay claim to her heart and her soul.

Here is an excerpt from Wicked:
Clasping my cheeks with his large, calloused hand, he swooped in and tilted his head. He kissed me, right there on the side of the street, in front of Brighton and Merle’s house. And it was no chaste or quick kiss. I didn’t even think Ren knew how to do chaste kisses.

His warm mouth moved over mine, insistent and seductive. With my hands clutching the helmet between us, all I could do was let myself be swept away by the feel of his mouth on mine.

And it did feel damn good.

The bike still hummed under us, and as his tongue glided over mine, I gasped into his mouth. I felt his lips curve into a smile against mine, and I wanted to pitch the helmet into the street and climb all over him.

Ren’s mouth brushed mine as he murmured, “Mmm.”

“What… what was that for?” I asked, blinking.

He laughed as he turned, turning the engine off. “It was a ‘just because kiss.’ Get used to it. You’re going to get a lot of them.”

I stared at his back. “What if I don’t want them?”

He looked over his shoulder, arching a brow. “You want them.”

I sighed. I did want them.

Isn't She Lovely by Lauren Layne

“Instead of the carefree, find-myself summer I envisioned, I’ll be spending the next three months with my own life-sized Ken doll.”

Isn't she lovely is a prequel to the Redemption series. This book is a fun summer read. I enjoyed the hilarious commentary between Ethan Price and Stephanie Kendrick. Lauren Layne takes the concept of Pygmalion and gives it a modern new adult twist. Pygmalion is from ancient Greek mythology whereas a man fell in love with the statue of a woman he created. Stephanie Price is the stereotypical goth with her gun metal eye shadow, too dark eyeliner, black outfit with the combat boots to complete it. Ethan Price is your typical rich boy with perfectly gelled hair and matching plaid shorts and polo. Ethan and Stephanie are assigned a partnership in their summer film class. Together they are responsible for coming up with the perfect screenplay. Thus, leading to their own Pygmalion story. Ethan is trying to avoid his mother pushing him towards the girl that recently broke his heart and what girl is better as a decoy than Stephanie. Together they transform Stephanie from goth into a barbie doll. Unfortunately Stephanie is not looking for a Ken and she wants to make sure Ethan does not screw up their screenplay. Throughout their charade it may seem they are starting to play their parts a little well. Can two people from totally different worlds make it work? I really enjoyed this book and plan on reading Broken, the next in the redemption series.

"I may be the Pygmalion in the story, but you're the statue. All that black shit you hide behind? That's your version of ivory. You have the chance to come alive, Stephanie, and you're choosing to be  a lifeless piece of rock."

Consequences by Aleatha Romig

“He spoke again as if he hadn’t just shattered his promise and her security. Her house of glass now lay in a pile of shards.”

“Life is not what it's supposed to be. It's what it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference.”

Consequences by Aleatha Romig is the first book in the Consequences series. I'm trying to write this review while its still fresh in mind  after completing it just a few hours ago. Of course, I needed a little to mentally recover from this read. Aleatha Romig had me hooked from the beginning. This was  a dark, thrilling adventure. I say  adventure because it definitely took me through all the emotions, angry, disgusted, elated, sad, and bewildered. Clair Nichols is a young woman whom lost her dream job of being a meteorologist and finds herself down on her luck working as a bartender. She meets Anthony Rawlings, a successful charming businessman. To Anthony appearances are of the utmost importance. A signature on a napkin entangles Claire in an unfamiliar contract resulting in Claire waking up in her prison. Her prison consists of her suite in Anthony's  mansion. Claire is given a lists of rules she must follow in order to escape her prison  and public failure is not an option. In order to survive each day Claire has to put on her mask each day and compartmentalize her situation. Claire has few freedoms, but even more limitations involving no access to telephones or computers. Clair begins to captivate her captor, and unbeknownst may start to have feelings for this man. Or is Claire just playing her part a little too well?  Claire quickly learns each action has consequences.

"To say he was cruel would not explain what she endured. One could say demanding, aggressive, abrasive, controlling-but above all, brutal."

Unchained by J. Lynn

"Of all the people, Nephilim and humans alike, you've been the only one who has ever made me wish I was a man and not what I am. You did that-Lily, not the Nephilim."

"Eight Years I've waited for you to realize that. I've waited for you to see yourself for who you really are. You're Lily Marks,a beautiful, extremely clever woman whose capacity for compassion sets you apart from the Nephilim. It's not your fighting skills or how good of a warrior you are. It's the fact you look at me and see a man rather than a Fallen."

I cannot praise Jennifer L. Armentrout enough for her. This woman is a writing machine and an amazingly talented writer. Unchained is a new adult paranormal romance and the first in the series Nephilim Rising. Jennifer Armentrout writes her New Adult books under her pen name J. Lynn just in case for any confusion. Lily marks is a nephilim, a breed of fallen angel and human. Lily works with the sanctuary, a group of Nephilim that protect humans and other Nephilim from other demonic creatures. Lily is a total badass that wears bracelets with retracting blades on it.  Julian is a fallen angel who has an obsession with Lily and seems to show up at the right time."He's like the friendly neighborhood angelic stalker" In his offense he has saved Lily's life twice. The sanctuary teaches Nephilim at a young age that fallen angels are evil and not to be trusted. They did fall from grace for a reason right? There is some chemistry between Lily and Julian, but with previous incidents and their beliefs any relationship is forbidden. The sanctuary starts to suspect a traitor amongst their organization and guess who is the first to be suspected. Lily starts to regret her life choices and just tries to stay alive. This book has it all, great heroine, action scenes, and very hot romance. I would recommend to anyone who loves romance, even if you are not into the whole paranormal thing.

Existence by Abbi Glines

"You make me crazy with need. With want. I didn't understand it at first. But now I know. It's your soul calling to me. Souls mean nothing to me. They aren't supposed to. But yours has become my obsession"

"I'm not a man so I do not have a heart that loves as a human does. I'm an immortal god that dwells with supreme power  because I hold the keys to Death. But you are my existence. I am yours. ''

Abbi Glines is a very talented author and I enjoy her New Adult Romances. Existence is the first installment of her Young Adult paranormal series. Pagan Moore is  a seventeen year old high school-er whom happens to see souls. Fortunately for Pagan, she can ignore most souls and they don't usually talk to her. All that changes the day she arrives to school and encounters the mysteriously handsome Dank. Dank not only speaks to Pagan, but refuses to leave her alone. Pagan's designated time comes and finds herself cheating death. Could this be a coincidence with Dank's appearance or does death have ulterior motives? Abbi Glines does not disappoint with this introduction to her existence series.

The Cellar by Natasha Preston

Natasha Preston is an indie author who started out on Wattpad, which i think is pretty awesome! The Cellar is the first book by Natasha that I've had the pleasure of reading. I was very impressed by this hauntingly good read. The main character Summer Robinson is a sixteen year old girl with the overprotective loveable boyfriend and the normal teenage life. Her night out with friends does not goes as planned and she  finds herself a victim of Clover. Clover is the ultimate psychopathic, narcissistic villain with the hidden cellar inside his house hence the title. The cover of the book is wonderful and creepy in itself. Summer finds herself with a new identity as Lily, one of Clover's special flowers. Clover's intentions are to make the world a better place in  his own eyes and create the perfect family. I was very impressed with the main character's ability to think logically and stay strong. I don't think many 16 year old in her situation would be able to react the same. I enjoyed the side characters as well as Summer's boyfriend Lewis. Lewis never gave up searching for Summer and he was very admirable.  This story is quite disturbing and definitely a dark read.

Tear by Rachel Van Dyken

"What do you do when you're drowning, but the only way to be free is to hold on to the one thing in all the world you're afraid won't be able to keep both of you afloat."

This is the second book I've read by Rachel Van Dyken. I enjoyed her writing style and her books are very captivating. The book did have plenty of laugh out loud moments and i found myself highlighting a couple of quotes.  I think I would have read this book in one sitting except I had to get sleep and am responsible for another human. Tear is the first in the seaside series. It's a young adult book about a love triangle between a  high school senior. Natalee Murray, in the town Seaside, Oregon whom falls in love with two  brothers.  This is your normal love triangle.except these two brothers happen to be rock stars of the band AD2.  Alec and Demetri are polar opposites. Whereas Alec has beautiful green eyes, constantly brooding, and quiet, Demetri is blue eyed and the ultimate life of the party. AD2 is  taking a break from touring and are residing in Oregon, while they focus on their personal live as in that is their cover story. The brothers are hiding the real story of what has been going on in their personal lives and are fearful of losing Natalee if the truth comes out. I loved Demetri and Alec, but I found Natalee to be a little annoying. The girl pretty much cries throughout the whole book. The author did seem to mention twilight and Stephanie Meyer quite often in this book. I did get the feel as this could possibly be twilight fan fiction, fair warning.
"It was so easy with him. It was like, oh gosh I'm totally going to kill Stephanie Meyer and Twilight. It really was like breathing. Sorry Jacob and Bella, but it's true. And I'm sorry, but being with a werewolf would not be like breathing. It would be like dying. "
The author seems to have a pretty accurate description of high school.."And to answer your question, they're high schoolers. Imagine Hollywood, only the drugs are cheaper, the women are looser, the men are hornier, and everyone's hormones are spiked like they're high on ecstasy."
I plan on reading the next book in this series by Rachel Van Dyken, Pull.

Take Me On by Katie McGarry

Take Me On is the fourth book in the Pushing The Limits series by Katie McGarry. This author sure knows how to write a captivating young adult story. Each book in this series is so realistic and heart-wrenching with the situations the teenagers are facing. West Young is the swoon worthy bad boy whom is misunderstood by his family and friends. Haley is a bad ass girl who kick boxes and practiced Muay Thai. Haley has a bad home life after her father lost his job and her family lost everything. Haley also has a secret of something tragic that has happened  to her and causes her stop fighting. West blames himself for his sister's accident and believes himself to be a failure. Haley and West meet one night while West almost hits her with his car and protects her from a dangerous situation. West and his father have a fall out resulting is West getting kicked out of his home. He learns what it takes to be a man and wants to prove to Haley she is worth fighting for. This book could be read as a stand alone, but I suggest reading the first three books in order to gain a back story on the side characters.

The series in order:
Pushing The Limits(Noah and Echo)
Dare You to(Beth/Ryan/Isaiah)
Crash Into You(Rachel-West's Younger sister and Isaiah)
Take Me On (West and Haley)

Providence by Jamie McGuire

"Sweet potato fries", "Sweet potato fries"(you will get it once you read it)
..."I still think I can make you happy. If it's what you want,I'll step aside. But if it's not,I'll fight fate. I'll fight Heaven and Hell and everything in between to keep you."...

I have to start off by saying I love everything this woman writes. She's a best selling author with epic talent.  I would say this book was a mixture between a young adult and new adult book at times.Providence is the first book in the series and is  a paranormal romance. This book starts off after Nina loses her beloved father. Nina meets Jared Ryel by chance, but Jared seems to always show up in the right moment. Coincidence or not? Jared has these angelic features that would  impress any girl and he has this obsession with sweet potato fries. As the story unfolds Nina starts to discover her father was not the man she thought he was. Nina uncovers her father's dark secrets and how Jared becomes involved with her life.Nina and Jared find themselves in a battle between Heaven and Hell. Will they follow destiny or create their on path?
I really enjoyed Providence and I would give it an overall four stars. I look forward to reading Requiem next.

Covet by J.R. Ward

.Genre:Paranormal Romance
Rating: 3 1/2 stars.
Book Synopsis:  Seven deadly sins. Seven souls to save. This is the first battle between  a savior who doesn't believe and a demon with nothing to lose!

Redemption isn't a word Jim Heron knows much about-his specialty is revenge, and to him, sin is all relative. But everything changes when he becomes a fallen angel and is charged with saving the souls of seven people from the seven deadly sins. And failure is not an option.

Vin DiPietro long ago sold his soul to his business, and he's good with that-until fate intervenes in the form of a tough-talking, Harley-riding, self-professed savior. And then he meets a woman who will make him question his destiny, his sanity, and his heart-and he has to work with a fallen angel to win her over and redeem his own soul

"You're going to take this",he murmured. "Because this isn't knight- in- shinning- armor time." "Think of it like this-I'm helping you buy your own white horse...."

"Damn You to Hell" "I have a feeling I've done  that to myself already, thank you very much"

I recently went into my local library looking for something new to read. I noticed a couple of books by J.R. Ward on the shelf and I was hoping they would have the first book in her famous Black Dagger Brotherhood. No such luck, but this baby caught my eye. This story is told in four different perspectives, so I really enjoyed getting to connect with each character.I would say the first 100 pages of the book were little confusing, but I recommend sticking it through. J. R. Ward is a great storyteller, and i felt that the book was more of a suspense novel, than a romance. Although  the "love" scenes were hot. I cannot wait to be captivated by the rest of this series.

The one with gargoyles and demons..

Young Adult
Rating:*****

So I have to start off by saying I love Jennifer L. Armentrout. She is in one of my top favorite authors.

Gargoyles and Demons, awesome right? I would just love to pick Jennifer's brain because she is creative and is so original. Anyway I guess I should stop fangirling and tell you some about the book.

"People with the Purest souls are capable of the greatest evils. No one is perfect, no matter what they say they are or what side they fight for."

"He's the awesome Sauce with extra Sauce."

"You eat muffins?" "I figured you drank virgin blood, and ate cow hearts."

Layla is a 17 year old girl whom is half demon and half gargoyle. She was raised by the warden(gargoyle race) who protect the humans and keep them blind from the existence of demons. Because of Layla's heritage she was born with special abilities and she is not allowed to kiss anyone with a soul, without sucking out their soul.  Which kind of makes your life lonely when you cant get close to anyone. Layla was raised with her oh so hot best friend Zayne. Zayne is like the protective older brother.

Layla's life is going as normal as it can be until she meets the tattooed bad boy,swoon-worthy upper-level demon,Roth. He has a huge snake tattoo he has named Bambi. Roth plays "devils advocate" and causes Layla to question where her loyalties lie.

Should she give in her to demon side or trust her family?

There is a prequel novella before this book and I recommend you read because its just as awesome!

*Every time you hear Paradise City you will think of Roth, you will know why once your read the book*

Autumn Rose by Abigail .Gibbs

Autumn Rose by Abigail Gibbs
Rating: ****

"Dwelling on what has and will come to pass is as good as kicking the stool from beneath the future."

Autumn Rose is the second Dark Heroine Novel and the sequel to Dinner With a Vampire. I have to say Autumn Rose is much more lighthearted read compared to Dinner With a Vampire with Violet Lee.

Autumn is like any normal teenager except she is a Sage duchess and has special powers. Autumn attends a normal school with humans and is the guardian of her school charged with  protecting humans from the extermino. Of course nobody knows Autumn's true identity, as a duchy. Autumn leads a common life with an after school job, and is often bullied at school.  After recent attacks Fallon(the lovely prince charming)  enrolls at Autumns high school.

Autumn struggles with her beloved grandmother's death, which is an important element in the story, but secrets are revealed which causes Autumn to embrace her destiny.

I'm looking forward to the next Dark Heroine novel.

This is my Fallon...

Dinner With A Vampire-The Dark Heroine #1 by Abigail Glines

Category:YA/NA
Rating: 4 out of my stars

Okay where to start. I was rather impressed to see such a young author write a dark novel such as this one. I found this book to rather intriguing and it kept me up past my bedtime to say the least. I'm not going to give the whole story, just some of  my thoughts.

Can we make a drinking game for every time Violet cries. She was so whiny and I just wanted to slap her the face throughout the duration of this novel.

The giant squid totally freaked me out....

I liked Fabian at first and thought he was sweet, but wowzers he turned into a total douche.

.Thyme was just totally creepy right...

Did anybody else wander why Kaspar turned Annie??

Oh Kaspar, you are one sick man, but I kind of understand the whole no humanity, blood sucker attitude.

It was totally bad ass when Violet kicked her ex Joel's ass (one of the actual moments I enjoyed her character)

Lyla had a lot of nerve calling Violet a slut...the whole fun house orgy was so gross.

What was up with Cain's obsession with Violet's sister? I kind of wanted something to happen with the two.

That is just my thoughts for now, looking forward to reading the next book Autumn Rose.
