Vain by Fisher Amelie

"Girl,  you are the epitome of spoiled. I can smell it in your expensive perfume, in the quality of your ridiculous clothing, in the bracelet wrapped 'round that delicate wrist. You won't last out here. You'll stay blind to the environment that surrounds you. You'll live in your clean, perfect bubble and return to your posh life come six months. You are... you. I know your kind. I've seen it all before. You will never wake up. Not really."

Vain is the fist book in the seven deadly sins series by Fisher Amelie.  Sophie Price has always relied on her good looks and her father's money. She manipulates her group of rich friends and she's the queen bee.

"I fitted into your life, showed you ecstasy, and left you dependent. I did this for fun, for the hell of it, for attention. I wanted to be wanted, and my word, did they want me. Did they ever."

Sophie was raised by a nanny, until the age of 14, when she fired the nanny herself. Sophie's parents only showed her attention when it involved closing a business deal or keeping up with appearances.  The one thing Sophie yearned for was attention from her parents.

"Freedom is just that. Absolutely no restrictions. I abandoned myself to every whim I felt. Every want I fulfilled and every desire was quenched. I wanted for nothing. Except attention"

During a weekend party with her friends, Sophie gets caught with the possession of cocaine. Sophie Price is used to getting off easy, but this is not her first drug charge. Sophie gets sentenced to serve six months at the Masego orphanage in Uganda, Africa.

Vain is a heart wrenching story of redemption. This was the first book I've read by Fisher Amelie and it was beautifully written. This is an emotional and a suspenseful read. I can't wait to read the next book in the series Greed. I hope everyone enjoys this book as much as I did.

So I'm a huge fan of Rachel Hollis. She's like my idol and a very inspiring human being. She's a mom, a writer, and she runs her own company Chic. You can check out her website here thechicsite.com. She also the author of the girls series. I loved this series and you can read them in order starting with party girl, but they can also be read as standalone books.

Wrong by Jana Aston

Wrong by Jana Aston is her first debut title. I've been in one of those reading slumps where you just don't know what to read next. I found myself on amazon searching for my next read. The cover and the title of this book had me intrigued. Then I read the synopsis and couldn't resist diving in.

"I have a history of picking the wrong guy. Gay? Player? Momma’s boy? Check, check and check.

Now I can’t stop fantasizing about one of the customers at the coffee shop I work at between classes. It’s just a harmless crush, right? It’s not like I ever see this guy outside of the coffee shop. It’s not like I’m going to see him while attempting to get birth control at the student clinic. While wearing a paper gown. While sitting on an exam table. Because he’s the doctor. Shoot. Me.

But what if, for once, the man I’ve had the dirtiest, most scandalous fantasies about turned out to be everything but wrong?"

This book was just what I was looking for. Sophie was honest and hilarious. She said exactly what was on her mind at the time and it was refreshing. Luke could give McDreamy a run for his money. Luke gives off that hot aplha male personna and lets just say,  I would not mind being his patient.

I'm hoping to see more work form Jana Aston in the near future.

I'm honored to participate in the cover reveal of Every Last Breath by Jennifer L. Armentrout! I'm also excited to announce there is new cover  jackets available for the previous books in the Dark Elements series.  I personally cannot wait until July 28, and I may just have to read the entire series all over again. If you plan on doing this also the reading order is as follows: Bitter Sweet Love(prequel story about Dez and Jasmine), White Hot Kiss, Stone Cold Touch, and Every Last Breath. I have included links to each book and pre-order links for Every Last Breath.

EVERY LAST BREATH Synopsis:

Some loves will last 'til your dying breath

Every choice has consequences—but seventeen-year-old Layla faces tougher choices than most. Light or darkness. Wickedly sexy demon prince Roth, or Zayne, the gorgeous, protective Warden she never thought could be hers. Hardest of all, Layla has to decide which side of herself to trust.

Layla has a new problem, too. A Lilin—the deadliest of demons—has been unleashed, wreaking havoc on those around her…including her best friend. To keep Sam from a fate much, much worse than death, Layla must strike a deal with the enemy while saving her city—and her race—from destruction.

Torn between two worlds and two different boys, Layla has no certainties, least of all survival, especially when an old bargain comes back to haunt them all. But sometimes, when secrets are everywhere and the truth seems unknowable, you have to listen to your heart, pick a side—and then fight like hell…

Insidious by Aleatha Romig

"I was death, slow and insidious. I killed everything around me. That is what I've been told since before I could remember. My mother had been right. I shouldn't have been born. Now, Karma was paying me back..."

Insidious by Aleatha Romig is a stand alone erotic thriller. I've learned to expect a plot twist when reading a book by Aleatha Romig, and Insidious was no exception. Insidious is a story that will take you on an adventure to the "dark side''. You will enjoy the journey and won't be disappointed.  Victoria's step-father has a gambling problem and her mother has a spending problem. Victoria's step-father becomes indebted to the wrong people and her parents choose to make a business deal to resolve their problems. Unbeknownst to Victoria, she is offered as a trade.

"Randall came to me for help. I have money that I can lend. The thing is... I don't need it. Therefore, I decided that in exchange for the money I wanted something else...something less conventional in return"
At the age of eighteen Victoria Conway signs a contract with Stewart Harrington  that ensures marriage and complete control of her body for his sexual desires.

Victoria Conway Harrington may not have known what she was really getting into when she signed that contract, but she learns to follow the rules and plays the wife of Stewart Harrington very well.

"After all, the acting wasn't new. I've been doing it my whole life. Only now, the truth that I kept buried, the one that ate at me day and night since I was old enough to remember, was a reality. Nevertheless, It was too painful to reveal, too upsetting for those around me. I needed to show them what they wanted, what they needed. They didn't want to see who I truly was...what I truly was"

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin

So I'll start of by saying I wasn't sure what to expect going in to this book. This young adult novel had mixed reviews, but don't let it discourage you. This book was definitely unexpected.

Mara Dyer wakes up In the hospital following a tragic accident. Unfortunately, Mara is the only one who really knows what happened that night in the abandoned asylum. A rebellious teen adventure goes wrong. Mara is left questioning herself and haunted by nightmares. Mara convinces her family to move from their home in Rhode Island to Florida. Mara is enrolled in a prestigious private school where she meets Noah Shaw.

Noah Shaw is the boy with the bad reputation and the "I don't care" attitude. He is loveable, sweet, and simply gorgeous.

"The boy-if he could be called that, looking like he belonged in college, not high school-wore chucks with holes worn through, no laces. Slim charcoal pants and a white button down shirt covered his lean, spare frame. His tie was loose, his cuffs were undone, and his blazer lay in a heap beside him as he lazily leaned back on the palms of his hands. His strong jaw and chin were slightly scruffy, as though he hadn't shaved in days, and his eyes looked gray in the shade. Strands of his dark chestnut hair struck out every which way. Bedroom hair."

Mara does not have the best of luck making friends at her new school, especially after getting the attention of the hottest boy in school. Noah tries his best to charm Maya, but she's reluctant. Maya admits she's broken.
"..please don't argue with me when I tell you that there is

something seriously wrong with me ...there's nothing anyone can do to fix it."
Noah -"Let me try"

And that was the moment I started to fall in love with Noah Shaw.

As their story unravels the author takes you on a dark adventure that keeps you captivated and second guessing yourself until the end.
